I've always loved taking snaps. My first camera cost 50p from a jumble sale. It was big and clunky and the photos I got back from the chemist regularly had WARNING stickers stuck on them explaining why the photos were so bad. I didn't care and have carried on regardless ever since. I'm taking photos of things that make me happy and if they make you happy too then that's just a bonus.
I am not, nor will I ever be, a photographer and I have no time for discussion of light and lenses. However, if you really crave technical details, anything with a source labeled as Mary's Camera refers to my beautiful blue Sony Cybershot DSC-U30 which did solid service from September 2003 until July 2007 when it died.
While looking for a replacement, I used Mary's Phone, a Motorola KRZR (also blue!) but it was very unsatisfactory.
In March 2008 I bought Mary's Camera II: a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33. It is pink!
