Eldfell volcano

Eldfell erupted in 1973, covering much of Heimaey town in lava and ash and creating a new island. The main island had to evacuated, but only one person died. A video of the eruption is available from this page: http://tlc.uwaterloo.ca/is303a/design/s2001/Volcano/Heimaey/heimaey_8_video.htm
